Since the dawn of agriculture, humans have been unwittingly breaking down the very natural systems that support our lives. The machine age has accelerated this breakdown, but the largest impacts still come from our use of land for agriculture and ranching. Thankfully, new models of land use have emerged that integrate tree planting to restore natural systems while producing high quality foods and creating livelihoods for people who were struggling to survive on their barren land.

Now land that had previously been reduced to wasteland or desert can be restored into fully functioning ecosystems that provide food, fodder for livestock, habitat for wildlife, safe places to live and thousands of useful resources, all while removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and restoring the freshwater cycle. All this incredible life stems from the miracle of photosynthesis and the awesomeness of trees.

 

Trees Are Awesome was created to connect people who care about our future with the people who have the time, the land, and the dedication to do this essential work. Eden Reforestation Projects, Trees for the Future, and the search engine Ecosia are our current partner organizations. In this partnership, the organizations provide their systems, seeds, and education, you provide what funding feels right to you, and the people they work with commit their lives, their land, and their families to doing the on-the-ground work.
